Planning: Special Effects Preparation

For our preparation for special effects, we were given a brief tutorial on how to apply makeup to create these special effects, will an impressive result that relates to our horror genre. We were able to use these new techniques we had learnt and apply them to our cast on different shoots when appropriate.

Here is a video tutorial to one of the first steps in creating a bloody horror effect. We used a cotton bud to add in the dark colours that will be visible behind the blood, in order to give this a bruised effect. By using a cotton bud this helped up keep the dark paint inside the cut circle of latex in a neater format. After this stage, we had then by using the same method applied the blood to cover the remaining latex that is showing to give this an overall horror effect.

Here is then the finished look we produced.
